However, Christian Dior Couture opposed the registration of this trademark, claiming a violation of the Japanese Trademark Act. ⚖️

The Opposition Board of JPO upheld Christian Dior Couture’s opposition and recognised the high degree of reputation and popularity of the ‘Dior’ mark as an abbreviation of the ‘Christian Dior’ mark and pointed out that given the high degree of reputation and originality, there is a risk of confusion between trade marks under comparison. ™️🔄

La Commissione di Opposizione dell’Ufficio Brevetti Giapponese ha sostenuto l’opposizione di Christian Dior Couture e ha riconosciuto l’elevato grado di reputazione e popolarità del marchio “Dior” come abbreviazione di “Christian Dior”, evidenziando che, data l’elevata reputazione e originalità, esiste un rischio di confusione tra i marchi in confronto. ™️🔄
