Calvin Klein: Triumphs in Trademark Protection and Fashion Disputes

Calvin Klein 🏢 is a worldwide known company that has been operating since 1968 📅.

The company offers a wide range of products – not only clothing 👗 or accessories 🕶️, but also perfumes 🌸 or home furnishings 🛋️ and decorative items 🖼️.

This wide range of products offered by Calvin Klein, as well as its high recognisability 🌐, entails the need to protect the brand 🛡️.

For this purpose, Calvin Klein Inc. has registered numerous trade marks with intellectual property offices around the world ™️🌍.

Here are some examples of such marks: ‘CK Calvin Klein’, ‘CK ONE SHOCK’, ‘CALVIN KLEIN UNDERWEAR’ or ‘CK’ 🏷️.

Not only does it sue unfair competition ⚖️, but it also has to defend itself in the disputes that arise – with much success 🎉!

Most recently, Calvin Klein had to face Diesel in a dispute over a label placed on the front pocket of trousers 👖.

Diesel sued Calvin Klein citing the high similarity of the fabric stripes and pointing to the competitor’s bad faith 😠.

The Court of Appeal of Milan 🏛️, which finally decided the case, found that there was no bad faith on the part of Calvin Klein and, given the different positioning of the label, the allegation of infringement and unfair competition was unfounded 🎯.

With this judgment, Calvin Klein can continue to use horizontal labels on trouser pockets as it did before 🙌.
