A breakthrough decision in the world of comics! 🌟📚

The United States Patent and Trademark Office USPTO has recently cancelled four ‘Super Hero’ trademarks owned by Marvel and DC Comics. The application to cancel them was filed by London-based comic book artist S.J. Richold, who objected to the giants’ monopoly. 🖌️🇬🇧

Richold alleged in his motion the following grounds: ‘Super Hero’ trademarks are generic, they have lost their significance and furthermore Marvel and DC have abandoned these marks by failing to use them as trademarks. ⚖️📉

Marvel and DC had jointly controlled the term ‘Super Hero’ for years, but their lack of response to the cancellation request led to the cancellation of their trademarks. ❌📝

The decision, released by the US Trademark Office, opens up new possibilities for creators, who are now free to use the term ‘Super Hero’ in their works. ✨🎨

Is this the beginning of a new era in comics? Or maybe Marvel and DC Comics are preparing something new? 🤔🔮
