Chinese companies ๐จ๐ณ –ย SHEIN andย TEMUย , which have gained a lot of popularity recently ๐ – are under the magnifying glass ๐ of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection ๐ต๐ฑย
The companies are being accused of violating the EU Omnibus Directive ๐ช๐บ, which aims to protect customers from unfair practices ๐ก๏ธ
Amongst other things, the directive imposes an obligation to inform about the lowest price ๐ฐ of a product within 30 days before a discount is introduced, which Shein and Temu do not comply with, deliberately inflating product prices before launching a promotion, in order to artificially increase discounts ๐ท๏ธ.
Shein and Temu are currently under investigation ๐ and if proven guilty face penalties of up to 10% of their annual turnover ๐ธ.
