Under Scrutiny: SHEIN & TEMU Face EU Directive Violations

Chinese companies 🇨🇳 – SHEIN and TEMU , which have gained a lot of popularity recently 📈 – are under the magnifying glass 🔍 of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection 🇵🇱 

The companies are being accused of violating the EU Omnibus Directive 🇪🇺, which aims to protect customers from unfair practices 🛡️

Amongst other things, the directive imposes an obligation to inform about the lowest price 💰 of a product within 30 days before a discount is introduced, which Shein and Temu do not comply with, deliberately inflating product prices before launching a promotion, in order to artificially increase discounts 🏷️.

Shein and Temu are currently under investigation 🔎 and if proven guilty face penalties of up to 10% of their annual turnover 💸.
