Chinese companies ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ –ย SHEIN andย TEMUย , which have gained a lot of popularity recently ๐Ÿ“ˆ – are under the magnifying glass ๐Ÿ” of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑย

The companies are being accused of violating the EU Omnibus Directive ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ, which aims to protect customers from unfair practices ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Amongst other things, the directive imposes an obligation to inform about the lowest price ๐Ÿ’ฐ of a product within 30 days before a discount is introduced, which Shein and Temu do not comply with, deliberately inflating product prices before launching a promotion, in order to artificially increase discounts ๐Ÿท๏ธ.

Shein and Temu are currently under investigation ๐Ÿ”Ž and if proven guilty face penalties of up to 10% of their annual turnover ๐Ÿ’ธ.
